Tom Cullerton, Villa Park village president elect
Q. Who is your political role model?
A. "He was not a politician, but my grandfather (John "Jack" Cullerton) was head of the Illinois Department of Labor in the late '60s and early '70s. I took a lot from listening to him and the way he dealt with people and people respected him and liked him... He looked for compromise, would listen to both sides and figure out a fair and equitable solution for everybody. That's what I do."
Q. What is the first thing you want to change?
A. "Our tactics. We need to be far more aggressive in everything we do and stop being considered in DuPage County as a sleepy little village." Instead, he wants it to be known "that Villa Park is a town that is going to accomplish a lot."
Q. What is your favorite movie?
A. "'Stripes.' I was in the military and Bill Murray's take on the military was kind of humorous. It was nothing like that."
Q. How did you celebrate?
A. "We pretty much stopped in and said hi to a ton of people at different locations around town and ended up meeting a bunch of people who supported me at Demito Time Bar & Grill (in Villa Park)." He was back at his day job before dawn.
Q. What's the last good book you read?
A. "Charlie Plants a Garden," to a group of kindergartners at his child's school.
Q. Cubs or Sox?
A. Sox.
