Methinks thou doth protest too much

In his Sept. 5, letter Mr. Albert J. Dzermejko writes: "Am I the only one who's absolutely aghast by ... the media's sanctimonious praise of now departed Sen. Ted Kennedy?"

And why was Mr. Dzermejko aghast? It was because of what happened at Chappaquiddick when Mary Jo Kopechne drowned when a car driven by Kennedy plunged off a bridge. Despite what Mr. Dzermejko says happened, the only thing we know for sure was that Kennedy did not report the accident for nine hours.

If the praise of Kennedy caused Mr. Dzermejko to be "absolutely aghast," I can only imagine how he must have felt, when after President Reagan died he was praised as one of our greatest presidents and highways and airports were named after him.

Mr. Dzermejko must have been absolutely appalled.

Kennedy waited nine hours to report an accident in which a person died; serious yes, but nowhere as serious as Reagan selling missiles to Iran - a country that supported terrorists - violating the Constitution and lying to the Congress during the Iran-Contra hearings. And we can only speculate as to how many Americans may have been killed as a result of President Reagan selling weapons to a country that supported terrorists.
