Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin will hold a Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament on Friday, April 24, at St. Charles Country Club.

The event kicks off with a reception at 6:30 p.m., and the tournament starts at 7:05 p.m. Spectator tickets for non-playing attendees are also being offered and include a deluxe food buffet. Prizes for the winners are all in the form of cash and gift cards with the values as such: first prize, $1,500; second prize, $750; third prize, $400; fourth prize, $200; and fifth prize, $125.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the shelter which annually provides temporary housing for approximately 3,000 homeless or abandoned companion animals. The shelter is committed not only to providing shelter to animals in need, but also to eliminating the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals, and doing everything in its power to help curb pet overpopulation through its spay/neuter efforts.

The donation for this charity tournament is $125, which includes the buffet and a seat in the tournament. Spectator tickets are available for $35. The event will be hosted at the St. Charles Country Club, 1250 Country Club Road, St. Charles.
