Elgin

• A total of 270 Valium pills was stolen between March 30 and Monday from a mailbox on George Street, a loss of $30 for the addressee, reports said.

• Amanda N. Tumpach, 19, of the 400 block of Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, was arrested on a retail theft charge at 2:57 p.m. Monday at the Meijer, 815 S. Randall Road, reports said. Tumpach is accused of putting $92.80 worth of makeup into her purse, reports said. She has a court date of May 15.

• A Garmin GPS was stolen between 9:30 p.m. Sunday and 5:55 a.m. Monday from an unlocked 2008 Mazda hatchback parked in the 600 block of Cobblestone Court, reports said. Another unlocked car in the area was entered during the same time frame, but nothing was taken.

• A laptop computer and accessories were stolen from an unlocked 1998 Chevy Tahoe parked in the 1100 block of Coldspring Road between 4 p.m. Sunday and 7:15 a.m. Monday, reports said. The police report did not provide a value for the computer.

• An Xbox 360 video game system and three games were stolen between 6 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. April 1 from a home in the 0-99 block of Julian Avenue, reports said. The victim did not believe the front door was closed all the way and recovered the items from a local pawnshop.

Carpentersville

•A Carpentersville man accused of fondling a 6-year-old girl will have to pay 10 percent of $150,000 to get out of jail. Erick Yepez-Gutierrez, 19, of the 2000 block of Limestone Drive, has been charged with two counts of criminal sex abuse, stemming from allegations that he fondled a 6-year-old girl Sunday afternoon. Police say Yepez-Gutierrez, who is in the United States illegally, knew the girl before the incident and that he admitted to touching her, according to a court document.
