Polling site changes should be spelled out
There were important issues on the April 7 ballot in St. Charles' 5th Ward and for the District 303 bond referendum.
Voting may well have been skewed because there was no notification of the change in the voting locations from the historic Davis School site. The election judges working at the new voting location knew of no such notifications. The Davis School location did not even have a sign up telling people where the new polling location was located.
Did the county really want us all to vote? Squeezing time in with various working hours may have caused many not to make it to the polls. How many went to the school to find no direction, no information, at least until the staff there started work.
There were many notifications in various papers on issues with reminders to vote but no mention that I saw of change in voting locations. This mismanagement of voting may have altered the results and, if true, these unannounced changes should be a basis for a revote, canceling the results for mayor and the school bond issue.
Changing polling locations for the safety of the children or consolidation of polling places are separate issues from the issue of lack of communication.
