Barrington HS student arrested for threat

A Barrington High School student has been arrested and suspended after making a threat of violence earlier this week in the presence of several classmates and a teacher, officials said. Alberto Quevedo, 17, of Carpentersville, was charged with disorderly conduct Monday. Barrington Deputy Police Chief Jerry Libit said that Quevedo admitted that his threat was a hoax. Nevertheless, Barrington Unit District 220 Superintendent Tom Leonard issued a statement Thursday explaining that as a precautionary step, a discrete but increased polise presence was in and around the school Thursday, the day the threat was made for. Despite rumors generated by the incident, attendance remained normal. Quevedo's case will be reviewed by the school board in closed session Tuesday, April 21, and he will remain suspended at least until then, officials said.
