Health care 'reform' might kill America
The passage of the health care bill in the House goes against every true patriotic American principle and value of our great country. While people realize that health care needs some reform, we do not need to destroy the best health care system in the world to do it.
Upward of 80 percent of all Americans here legally like their health insurance, but say some modifications need to be made. Some excellent ideas for reform would be to let people have tax-free health savings accounts, let people buy their insurance across state lines, tort reform, and letting people know how much their health care costs before they purchase services.
People realize these are sensible reforms. Forcing Americans to buy health insurance is not only wrong, it is unconstitutional. Our constitution does not allow the federal government to force Americans to purchase anything. Nor does it have a right to fine and jail Americans for not purchasing health care.
The real truth is that if the health care bill passes with a public option it will destroy the best system in the world and will force unsustainable costs upon our system. Health care insurance premiums will rise.
If this bill was the greatest thing for the American people then why do our Congressmen and women feel that they are able to opt out while the rest of the American people are forced into purchasing insurance?
Are they better than you or me? Of course not. This bill is a debacle of socialized medicine. The bill will kill innovation and thrust doctors out of practice. It will hurt seniors through massive cuts in Medicare.
Even the Congressional Budget Office, a nonpartisan government agency, states that the costs will be devastating to the American economy; costing us $9 trillion over the next ten years.
A person like me who has insurance and moves to another job after the passage of this bill will under federal law not be able to purchase private insurance or receive insurance through my new employer. I ask you this. How is that allowing me to keep my insurance if I like it? It isn't.
I will be forced onto the public option. And the CBO estimates that a person who makes roughly $44,000 will pay around $5,300 in premiums and another $2,000 in deductibles, for a total of over $7,000.
I currently pay less than $1,000 per year. How does that help me? I am not rich by any means. I will not be able to pay my mortgage or feed my children because my health care costs will sky rocket under this bill.
Joe Wilson was maybe out of line when he yelled "you lie," but he was most certainly correct. Socializing medicine is the worst thing we can do for a free-market capital society under the greatest land of America. This bill as it stands is unconstitutional and will destroy America.
Let's take the time to get this right. Obama has not reached across the aisle as he so clearly states regarding his "vigorous debate" speeches. There are many good ideas on the table and Congress will not listen. The American people have spoken.
