Mickey Finn's beer now available to go

Fans of Mickey Finn's microbrewed beer can now purchase it in cans. The popular Libertyville microbrewery started selling its Amber Ale in 12-ounce cans last week.

The canned beer is currently available at the restaurant on Milwaukee Avenue, Sunset Foods and Gold Eagle liquor store in Libertyville and DiCarlos Fine Wine & Spirits in Mundelein. The cost is $14.95 for a 12-pack of 12-ounce cans.

Mickey Finn's owner Brian Grano said they have been working on the project for more than a year and are working to get the product into additional retailers. "We chose to package in cans to differentiate Amber Ale from the already crowded bottled micro and macro beer market," he said. The Libertyville resident added that cans also protect the product from the light and are better for the environment.

"People are thrilled they are able to enjoy the beer at home, at their lake houses and even on the golf course," said Grano, who has owned the 15-year old microbrewery for the past five years.

He said before he took over, there was an attempt to bottle the beer, but it did not work out.

"The cans seem like a better idea. Hopefully if it works out, this is the first of a few Mickey Finn's canned beers," he said.
