Alexian Field to host clinic featuring baseball legends
Several former baseball legends will help direct a skills clinic for youngster later this month at Alexian Field in Schaumburg.
The June 27 clinic, which is sponsored with help from Total Insurance Services Inc. and The Hanover Insurance Group, will feature Bill Madlock, Minnie Minoso, Milt Pappas, Jim Piersall and Lee Smith and other former Major League Baseball players.
The roving instructs will conduct the clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Alexian Field, home of the Schaumburg Flyers.
The clinic is the fourth featured stop in the 2009 "Legends for Youth Clinic Services Powered by The Hanover," a tour of charitable events taking place at select locations around the country. In addition to helping promote the game of baseball and developing basic baseball skills, the clinics also will focus on building kids' confidence and self-respect, and their sense of responsibility for themselves and their team.
The cost is $49, and in addition to the day of instruction from the former pros, campers will receive lunch and a ticket to that evening's Flyers game against the Kansas City T-Bones.
There are a limited number of openings for the camp, but participants can reserve a spot by calling 847-891-2255, or visit flyersbaseball.com for more information.
