Fire damages Glen Ellyn apartment building
An apartment building in Glen Ellyn was evacuated late Tuesday night after a fire erupted on the second floor.
Firefighters arrived at the building at 787 Wilson Ave. around 11 p.m. and found heavy smoke and flames coming from one of the units, officials said.
The blaze was quickly extinguished, but damage to the apartment unit was significant, authorities said. There also was water damage to the apartment below.
"All of the real damage was contained to that one unit," said Craig Eldridge, public information officer for the department.
The cause of the fire was not immediately determined, but it is believed to have started in a bedroom.
All residents, except those in the affected unit, were allowed to return to their homes Tuesday night.
No injuries were reported.
