'Cheap Trick' performs Sgt. Pepper live on video
"Cheap Trick: Sgt. Pepper Live"
When the Beatles were recording the classic album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," John Lennon told engineer Geoff Emerick that they were making an album that could never be performed live. He felt that way because of all the instruments involved.
In 2007, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," Cheap Trick performed the album in its entirety at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The two shows were seen by more than 38,000 fans. Now, Cheap Trick fans can enjoy a track-by-track rendition that features the New York Philharmonic orchestra, an Indian music ensemble and several guests. The band also secured Emerick to engineer the music for the CD and DVD.
The songs include the title track as well as "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds," "She's Leaving Home," "A Day in the Life" and more.
"Elvis - Love Me Tender: The Love Songs"
Elvis Presley recorded many romantic songs throughout his career. Ashley Judd narrates this terrific program that highlights Elvis' love songs from his movies and live television performances. Clips from a number of Elvis' films are included - from "Love Me Tender" to "Viva Las Vegas," "Clambake" and "Live A Little, Love A Little." Among the featured songs are "It's Now or Never," "Are You Lonesome Tonight," "Can't Help Falling in Love" and "What Now My Love." The bonus features include 30 minutes of interviews and never-before-seen footage.
"The Ultimate Billy Jack Collection"
The character of movie antihero Billy Jack was created and developed by Tom Laughlin, who also directed the films. Billy was an ex-military man - half white, half Native American - who just wanted to be left alone, but used martial arts whenever he had to. He was the champion of the little guy, and the public could identify with him. The movies had a huge impact on Hollywood and ended up making millions.
The four films in the collection are "The Born Losers," "Billy Jack," "The Trial of Billy Jack" and "Billy Jack Goes To Washington." The bonus features include commentaries, trailers, photo galleries, a documentary, trivia game, a book excerpt and more.
"Thirtysomething: The Complete First Season"
The award-winning television series is available for the first time on DVD. The great writing and acting gave a true picture of baby boomers dealing realistically with marriage, children, work and personal challenges. It ran for four seasons and won 10 Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe, a Peabody Award and numerous honors and accolades. The six-DVD set includes all 21 episodes, a commemorative booklet, new interviews, commentaries and more.
