Libertyville credit union robbed

Libertyville police are looking for two men who robbed a credit union Monday morning at gunpoint.

The robbery occurred about 9:50 a.m. at the Great Lakes Credit Union, 1509 N. Milwaukee Ave. Police said the men confronted a teller and demanded money. One of the men displayed a handgun.

"They were both about 6 feet tall and were wearing ski masks," said Police Chief Pat Carey. The men made off with an undetermined amount of cash. No one was injured.

Both fled north on Milwaukee in a car, initially described as green but later described as tan, with no license plates, Carey said.

The Lake County Sheriff's Police and Gurnee police were notified, he said, and the FBI is involved because the credit union is a federally insured institution.

Further details were not immediately available. Police are asking anyone with information to call (847) 362-8310.
