Follow the money in campaign
So far, only two Arlington Heights trustee candidates have filed state reports detailing how much money they've spent and raised: incumbent Bert Rosenberg and new comer Tom Glasgow.
According to reports filed with the state elections board, Rosenberg had $4,644 left from previous campaigns and raised another $4,818 for this one. So far, he'd only spent $100 to rent a room at the Arlington Heights Park District.
Rosenberg has collected three $250 donations, two from private citizens and one from Arlington Park. As of March 23, he had $9,362 left in his campaign report.
Being Glasgow's first race, he had no money to carry over this year but has raised $5,286. He's spent $4,336, leaving him about $950 as of March 20. Although he too received $250 from Arlington Park, most of his campaign is self-funded, having loaned himself about $4,000. Glasgow has spent his campaign money on yard signs, cards and labels. He also threw a kickoff party at Peggy Kinnane's Restaurant on Feb. 24 that cost almost $2,000.
Candidates must raise at least $3,000 before they have to file a report.
According to state reports, Mayor Arlene Mulder hadn't yet raised that amount, nor had challenger Phillip Walter.
The other Arlington Heights trustee candidates - Joe Farwell, Mike Sidor, Norm Breyer, Barbara Browne, Keith Moens and Tabitha Long - all did not fill out a campaign report.
Candidates are required to fill out an other report after the April 7 election.
