Elgin
• Bianca Venegas, 19, of the 400 block of Ann Street, was charged with two felonies Thursday, after police found her in a stolen vehicle, documents said. Venegas, arrested Wednesday night at North Liberty Street and Congdon Avenue, was charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful possession of a stolen/converted vehicle - both carry prison terms of up to seven years. The vehicle, a 1994 Chevrolet, was reported stolen out of Plainfield. Venegas has to pay 10 percent of $50,000 to get out of jail. She is due back in court at 9 a.m. May 5 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
• A cinder block was thrown through a window at a residence in the 1100 block of Peachtree Lane at about 1:20 a.m. Thursday, police said. No arrests were made and no damage estimate was given.
• Carlos Echevarria, 56, of the 2900 Kelly Drive, Elgin, was arrested at 4:54 p.m. Wednesday and charged with retail theft of $74 of merchandise from Mejier, 801 S. Randall Road, reports said. He has a court date of May 15.
• A Garmin GPS unit was stolen from a glovebox of a 2005 Jeep Liberty parked in the 700 block of Bent Ridge Lane between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:54 p.m. Wednesday, reports said. There were no signs of forced entry.
• A person living in the 500 block of Raymond Street called police at 6:33 p.m. Thursday to report dried blood smears on garbage cans. The person told police there was a commotion the night before at about 11:30 p.m. but could not see what had happened.
