College fair in St. Charles
St. Charles East High School will host the annual ICE Fox Valley College Fair from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, in the main gymnasium, 1020 Dunham Road. Students from any high school are welcome. There will be representatives from 180 colleges and universities with information for students and their parents. The fair is also an opportunity for sophomores and juniors to ask questions about admissions, financial aid and programs offered by the schools. Call (630) 584-1100.
Tax Day party
The Conservative Catholic Women's League-Kane County is sponsoring the Kane County Taxpayer Tea Party from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva. State Sen. Chris Lauzen, an Aurora Republican, and state Rep. Timothy Schmitz, a Batavia Republican, are scheduled to speak. Rabies clinic in Geneva
The Kane County Animal Control Department has a rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Kane County Animal Control Facility, 4060 Keslinger Road, Geneva. Fees are payable in cash or check. Rabies shots are $15. A county rabies tag is $10 (free to adults 65 and older), and a microchip identification insertion is $15. Dogs must be on leashes, and cats in carriers.
Two join United Way
A local educator and business strategist with a background in health care have joined the Fox Valley United Way board of directors. The new members are Joseph Harmon, an assistant principal at East Aurora High School, and Gail Bumgarner, a senior vice president at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora.
Law school scholarships
The Kane County Bar Association seeks applicants for its annual scholarship program for area law students. In years past, the association has awarded at least two $1,000 scholarships to students who either reside in Kane County or whose parents live in Kane County.
