Three-for-three for Parker?

It's getting closer and closer to becoming reality.

Months ago, Candace Parker casually made reference to this little dream of hers, a pipe dream of sorts.

What if 2008 became the year of championships for her?

The former Naperville Central star had just won the NCAA national basketball title with Tennessee. She was soon headed to the Los Angeles Sparks, historically one of the best franchises in the WNBA and during the middle of the summer she would be playing for the U.S. national women's basketball team, which was favored to win Olympic gold.

Well, of course, now, she's got two pieces of the puzzle, since the U.S. team did in fact win the gold.

And championship No. 3 is getting closer than ever. The Los Angeles Sparks are currently playing in the Western Conference finals and have a 1-0 lead on the San Antonio Silver Stars in a best-of-three series.

Game 2 is at 3 p.m. Saturday on NBA TV. If the Sparks win, they would face either the Detroit Shock or the New York Liberty in the WNBA Finals.

If the Sparks win the WNBA championship, Parker would become the first player in women's basketball history to win an NCAA championship, an Olympic gold medal and a WNBA title in the same year.
