Durbin must be held accountable

Illinois Senators Dick Durbin and Roland Burris were two of only seven senators who voted to continue federal funding for ACORN after their recent scandals. Of course Burris is an unelectable, lame duck, so enough about him, but Senator Durbin deserves to be criticized for his vote.

First, ACORN is a Democratic political action organization. Now if you're wondering which political party I think should received federal funding? That's easy: none of them. We should never give federal, state or local funding to organizations that campaign for a political party, no matter what other kind of work they do or what pocket they tell us they are putting the money in.

Secondly, ACORN has already had thirty employees convicted of voter fraud. That's not just a few bad apples.

Finally we live in a state where our corrupt politics have made us the laughing stock of the nation. We need politicians who are willing to stand up against this type of patronage politics, rather than being one of the seven senators voting for it to continue.

Egg on his face? Not Senator Durbin, he's making omelets.
