Elgin police: 13 vehicles burglarized so far in May

Thirteen vehicle burglaries have been reported to Elgin police by residents since the beginning of May, authorities said Monday.

In each case, the vehicles were left unlocked or unsecured overnight, police said in a message posted to social media.

The burglaries happened in area west of Dundee Avenue and along Wing Street, police said. Five of the burglaries were east of the river, and eight were on the west side.
