Think of Geithner as you file taxes

As millions of Americans approach anxiously the tax filing deadline, I read with great interest the Daily Herald's front page article on Treasury Secretary Geithner and all his hard word.

The article passes over his tax problems as "lousing up his tax returns." No, he did not just louse up his tax returns.

He deliberately avoided paying his taxes for not one, not three, but five years. And apparently the only reason he paid up was because he was nominated to be Treasury Secretary. Well, all of us hardworking and conscientious Americans struggle to pay our taxes on time in accordance with the law. And as we do so, it is the height of hypocrisy to have a Treasury secretary who seems to believe the U.S. Revenue Code applies differently to him than it does to all of us.
