Kirk: Illinois can do better than Burris
Congressman Mark Kirk says Illinois can do better than U.S. Sen. Roland Burris.
Kirk is weighing a run against the state's junior senator, and he contends Burris is probably the "least-respected" among all senators.
Kirk is also considering a challenge to Gov. Pat Quinn. The Republican says Quinn is an honest man but has moved to raise taxes instead of pushing a comprehensive ethics package.
Kirk says he'll make a decision on which position to run for by early May.
Burris was appointed to President Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat by now-ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich. The Senate Ethics Committee and the Sangamon County prosecutor are investigating his testimony to an Illinois House impeachment panel.
Quinn replaced Blagojevich as governor.
