Kiwanis grateful for Peanut Day support

Last month the Kiwanis Club of Palatine held its annual "Kids' Day" Peanut Sale.

Many Palatine residents and those who travel through town were approached to buy a package of peanuts for whatever they wished to contribute. On behalf of the Palatine Kiwanis Club I would like to thank the thousands of people in our area who gave freely to support our work.

I also want to thank the many businesses in Palatine who helped us by underwriting the cost of our peanut supplies, and the twelve local organizations who stood on the street corners with us to solicit donations for peanuts.

With the funds we collected, every dollar will be used for the many charities and causes we have supported for the past 50 years. Expected additional funding from other fundraisers held throughout the year will increase that total.

Kiwanis supports the needs of children and families, the elderly, and those who suffer from illness or disease. We promote citizenship and leadership training for the youth of the community and provide needed safety and support equipment for schools and youth groups. We offer college scholarships to students of both Fremd and Palatine high schools.

We couldn't do all these things without the generosity and support of the people of the community. Thank you, Palatine!
