Bond denied for woman accused of killing niece

A 26-year-old suburban Chicago woman has been ordered held without bond after being charged in the beating death of her 2-year-old niece.

Cook County prosecutors said during a hearing Tuesday that Nours Hadid has admitted to beating Bhia Hadid repeatedly with a wooden spoon, a stick and with shoes. She also admitted to biting and pinching the girl on the chest.

Emergency room doctors say the girl had more than 50 bruises that covered her body.

An autopsy conducted Monday found she died of blunt force trauma, and the medical examiner's office has ruled her death was a homicide.

Nours Hadid, a native of Jordan, is charged with first-degree murder. She's next due in court April 30. It was not immediately clear who she is being represented by.
