Outlook For Antioch coach Michael Skinner, after two years of seeing victories come all too infrequently, this team is like a dream come true. "This team is great," Skinner said. "This is the kind of team I wish I had my first year. These kids are so excited, they're working hard and they're doing whatever it takes to get better," Skinner said he knew this team would be special on the first day of practice. That day, his jaw just about hit the floor. "I had decided that we needed to do more running this year so we didn't even go to the gym, we went straight out to the track," Skinner said. "I told the guys they needed to run two miles in a certain amount of time. Well, I look over and they're ready to run. There was no complaining, nothing. They just ran their hardest. I turned to my assistant and said, "Do you see what I see, and he said, 'Yeah, it's going to be a good year.' That day right there on the track let me know that we just had an incredible change in our program."-A few key faces will stay the same from last year forward Chris Terzic, guard Kyle Haley and guard Drew Moncelle. "They're in great shape," Skinner said. "Kyle runs cross country and he came in first in the two-mile run. He's a three-point shooter for us and he just never gets tired. He's also one of our better defenders. Chris had the most consistent summer for us. We played more than 30 games and he maybe had two games that were sub-par for him. He's the kind of kid who can play any position on the floor, one, two, three, four or five. He's going to be a tough match-up." Meanwhile, Skinner says that Moncelle is a ball of energy and the team's best defender-Skinner is also excited about two sophomores on the team Karl Nettgen and William Waschow. "They're my young guns," Skinner said. "They've shown so much (on the underlevels) that they merited being pulled up."-Add up the enthusiasm and the mix of old and new talent and Antioch should be much improved over last year. "My expectations are higher than ever," Skinner said. "But the thing is, for the first time since I've been here, the kids have some expectations that are even higher than mine. They really expect to win this year."

Opener 6 p.m. Monday, vs. Woodstock North at Prairie Ridge
