CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- An Alton, Ill., man is accused of robbing the same bank in Cape Girardeau, Mo., twice.
Federal prosecutors on Thursday announced a four-count indictment against 46-year-old George Chestnut. The indictment alleges Chestnut robbed a Bank of Missouri branch in the southeast Missouri town on Oct. 6 and again on Oct. 30.
Authorities say Chestnut got away with $17,210 in the first robbery and $4,640 in the second. In both instances, he allegedly showed a gun.
Chestnut faces two counts of armed bank robbery and two counts for using a firearm in the crime. It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
