Nominations sought for Judson volunteer awards
What do retired Community Crisis Center assistant director Trinka Waters, former sportscaster Floyd Brown and Elgin chiropractor Clare Ollayos all have in common? They are the latest in a core group of volunteers who have received the D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award presented by Judson University.
Now the university invites community members to nominate their friends or colleagues to receive this year's award, which will be presented at Judson's annual Golden Corridor Prayer Breakfast May 5.
The D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award is presented annually to the candidate who has contributed to the greater good within the Golden Corridor community by voluntarily serving others' physical, emotional, intellectual or spiritual needs.
To be considered for this award, the candidate must live and volunteer within the "Golden Corridor" communities of Elgin, East Dundee, Carpentersville, Sleepy Hollow, South Elgin, Schaumburg, St. Charles, Bartlett, Hoffman Estates and Barrington. Candidates should be nominated by a co-worker, relative or friend through the nomination form found at www.judsonu.edu/DRWAward2009.aspx.
Also, nominees should be able to attend the Golden Corridor Community Prayer Breakfast at Judson University, which will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at the Robert D. Lindner Fitness Center, Judson's Elgin campus, 1151 N. State St., Elgin. Tickets are $16 each and table sponsorship for business recognition and family/friends is available by calling (847) 628-2514.
For the candidate to be considered for this award, the nominator must provide specific descriptions of the type and scope of the candidate's volunteer service and how his/her efforts have contributed to the greater good in a tangible way.
Deadline for nominations is Monday, April 13. The selection decision will be made by committee of community volunteers. For details, contact Mary Dulabaum at (847) 628-2089 or mdulabaum@judsonu.edu. A pdf Nomination Form can be obtained by visiting www.judsonu.edu.
