Monster water tower mars neighborhood
I know Hoffman Estates wants to develop an area just north of I-90 as a "destination" location but I was not aware that you also wanted to include a hideous looking, gigantic, monster of a water tower just south of I-90 as an attraction. Where was the zoning and planning commission when plans were submitted to build this eyesore? It makes you wonder what direction and vision Hoffman Estates has next on their agenda.
This water tower looms over a new fire station and two new subdivisions. Currently there is empty land to the north and south but I believe once the economy turns around the land will be developed into commercial and residential property. Who in their right mind would choose to live next to the ugliest water tower ever built in the northwest suburbs?
When I moved to Hoffman Estates from Palatine three years ago I was aware that a water tower was going to be built but never have I seen one as mammoth and out of place as this one. I know there are numerous codes and restrictions regarding fences but obviously, there is none for water towers. Hoffman Estates now has the distinct claim to fame of caring less for the aesthetic of the surrounding community and the people who now have to reside next to and view this colossal water tower. Come out and witness for yourself, you cannot miss it!
