Round Lake man charged with 5th DUI
A Cook County judge found probable cause to detain a Round Lake man charged with aggravated driving under the influence for the second time in as many years.
Margarito Gordillo, of the 24000 block of W. Passavant in Round Lake, was charged last month with two counts of aggravated DUI and driving with a revoked license. He remains in Cook County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
At a hearing Wednesday in a Rolling Meadows courtroom, Wheeling police officer Joseph Dawson testified that he stopped the 49-year-old Gordillo for a traffic violation shortly after 10 p.m. Feb. 24, as Gordillo and a female passenger were driving northbound on Milwaukee Avenue near Manchester Drive.
A check of his driving records revealed Gordillo's license had been revoked for an alcohol-related violation, Dawson said. Dawson testified that the defendant failed several field sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol content of .099. He also stated that Gordillo had DUI arrests in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Court records show Gordillo pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI in 2008 and received two years in prison.
He next appears in court on April 21.
