Hey, politicians: Drop the mud
Are any of you out there in TV land sick and tired of the political commercials coming across our TV sets? It seems like it was just yesterday we had a national election loaded with political sludge and politicians face-painting each other with scum. It doesn't take long after an election for the politicians to crawl out of their nests and commence campaigning for their job security. Yes, job security and the survival of state and local government.
The Illinois primary election is not that far off, but do we need the mud slinging between Pat Quinn and Dan Hynes?
Most of us in Illinois have not gotten over the Blagojevich mess from last December, and it's a new cast of characters in the soap opera of Illinois politics.
Please, let us have some peace when we watch the news at night and end the bombardment of ugly commercials.
Spend your commercial advertising money by helping people who are without jobs, without food or shelter. Spend your millions and do something good with it instead of wasting it on each other. People are tired of the political nonsense and manure you have created.
Before you (political leaders and candidates) go for more tax dollars to save the state and your jobs on the backs of the people of Illinois, do something constructive.
Start bringing back businesses to Illinois that you once drove away with high taxes. Create new incentives for good jobs that will be there for people who are graduating college. Just don't tell people to go back to school and earn a degree when those "high-paying" jobs do not exist here in Illinois.
Find ways to help people get back on their feet and not just throw out a bone every now and then. Once you show signs that you truly care, I may invite you back into my home and watch and listen to what you have to say. As for now, many of us can do without your bickering and infighting and just click on the "mute" button.
