Caterpillar laying off 815 in Aurora
Caterpillar announced Tuesday that 665 production workers and 150 support and management employees will lose their jobs at the Aurora facility beginning in early June.
The cuts, which will last at least six months, have to be made as the company works to bring product levels in line with current demand, said company spokesman Jim Dugan.
Since the beginning of the year, this brings the number of layoffs at the Aurora facility to 1,155 in the production or factory area and 246 in support management.
Caterpillar's Aurora plant on Route 31 produces hydraulic excavators and wheel loaders.
