Buffalo Grove Subway robbed at gunpoint

Buffalo Grove police are looking for witnesses to an armed robbery at a Subway Sandwich Shop on Buffalo Grove Road Sunday night.

Cmdr. Steve Husak of the Buffalo Grove Police said a male in his mid-20s walked into the shop, on the 800 block of Buffalo Grove Road, at about 7 p.m. and ordered a couple of sandwiches.

As the employees made the sandwiches, the male produced a black handgun and demanded money from the cash registers, Husak said.

After receiving the undisclosed amount of money, the robber fled the store on foot, Husak said.

"We are checking the video from the store and other stores in the strip mall to determine if he went into other stores or not," Husak said. "We used a K-9 to track him for a little while, but the dog lost the scent nearby."

The thief was described as about 5-feet, 9-inches tall, weighing about 250 pounds, bald or with a short hair cut and a black goatee. He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, according to reports.

The thief did not take the sandwiches from the store, Husak said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Buffalo Grove Police Department at (847) 459-2560.
