Rockford man charged in roommate's stabbing death
ROCKFORD -- A 51-year-old northern Illinois man is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his roommate.
Police say Willie J. Harrison killed 31-year-old Jermaine Rogers early Saturday at the Rockford home they shared with Rogers' wife. Harrison had lived with the couple for five months.
Police and neighbors say officers had been called to the home several times in the past for disorderly conduct complaints.
Elisa Barkley, the victim's wife, says Harrison used to make threatening statements when he'd been drinking but she never took him seriously.
Authorities say Harrison is being held in the Winnebago County Jail on $1 million bond. It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
