Palin not qualified to be vice president
There was nothing "maverick" about nominating Sarah Palin for vice president. For decades and decades, men (especially men of McCain's generation) have overlooked the hard-working, better qualified, more intelligent, and more talented women in their midst and given the new position or promotion to the cute young thing.
This is just more of the good old boy same old, same old. The most conspicuously sexist thing about this "maverick" move was actually reverse sexism. If McCain had nominated a man with the limited experience and credentials of Palin, he would have been booed off the stage - much like when Bush nominated Harriet Meyers for the Supreme Court.
No one wants to have a woman in one of the two highest executive positions more than I, but it should be the right woman, either Democrat or Republican. And Sarah Palin is not the right woman. She is neither deserving or worthy or qualified to make that history.
