There's bad ... and then there's good with Bulls

Apparently, it was just a matter of time before Dwyane Wade made the Bulls miserable Monday night.

The Chicago native and resident Miami superstar hit a late 3-pointer to send the game to overtime, missed a relatively easy reverse lay-in at the end of the first extra session, then stole the ball from John Salmons and drained a running 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Heat an incredible 130-127 victory. Wade finished with 48 points.

"Probably the easiest game-winner I ever had in my life and I missed it," he said of the miss in overtime No. 1. "I couldn't believe it. I had to find a way to get it back."

After playing the 58-minute game with just seven players - thanks to injuries to Luol Deng (right-shin contusion) and Tim Thomas (left-knee sprain), while Kirk Hinrich (bruised right knee) was not 100 percent - the Bulls canceled Tuesday's practice.

They face a tough bounce-back game Wednesday night against Orlando.

"That was probably the toughest loss," said Bulls guard Ben Gordon, who scored a season-high 43 points. "We were both fighting hard. That is how the game was going to end - whoever made the last, best play was going to win the game."

The loss dropped the Bulls to 5-10 in games decided in overtime or by 4 points or fewer. The Bulls (29-35) also dropped back into a tie with Milwaukee for the eighth playoff spot in the East.

With rookie point guard Derrick Rose at the controls, the Bulls have visited both extremes during late-game pressure situations. For every gut-wrenching road loss this season, the Bulls have had their share of spectacular late-game comebacks, mostly at home.

Here's a recap of the miserable and glorious moments:

Five miserable losses

March 9 at Miami: After an 18-point barrage by Gordon in the fourth quarter, the Bulls led 104-101 with 20.7 seconds left, before Wade tied it with a 3-pointer. Wade eventually jumped on the scorer's table to celebrate his game-winner.

Feb. 7 at Dallas: Bulls led by 5 with 1:30 remaining before Jason Kidd drilled his first basket of the night, a 3-pointer with 13.1 seconds remaining to tie the score. Dirk Nowitzki then scored 14 of the Mavericks' 18 points in overtime to clinch a 115-114 win.

Jan. 25 at Minnesota: Holding a 2-point lead with about 30 seconds remaining, Derrick Rose drove to the basket, put up a scoop shot and was karate-chopped across the forearm by Minnesota's Al Jefferson. No call.

Jefferson tied the score a few seconds later, and the Timberwolves won 109-108 in overtime. The Bulls led by 7 with less than four minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Jan. 19 at New York: The Bulls missed a free throw and 2 open shots with a 1-point lead in the final minute, opening the door for Chris Duhon's driving bank shot with 31.2 seconds left, which turned out to be the game-winner in a 102-98 Knicks victory.

Dec. 16 at Charlotte: Rose was called for a questionable 3-shot foul against fellow rookie D.J. Augustin with 19.2 seconds left. The 3 free throws tied the score, Rose got a shot blocked by Emeka Okafor as time expired in the fourth quarter, and the Bulls ended up losing to the Bobcats 110-101 in overtime.

Five glorious wins

Nov. 24 at Utah: Larry Hughes rebounded a Rose miss and drained a 21-foot jumper at the buzzer to give the Bulls a stunning 101-100 victory in Salt Lake City after the lead changed hands 10 times in the final 3:04.

Dec. 17 vs. L.A. Clippers: The Bulls trailed by 4 late in the fourth quarter, then tied it on a 4-point play by Gordon with 20.5 seconds remaining. They went on to win 115-109 by scoring the final 9 points of overtime.

Jan. 15 vs. Cleveland: An under-the-weather LeBron James missed 13 consecutive shots, including a 21-footer with the score tied at the end of regulation. The Bulls took advantage by rolling to a 102-93 win in overtime.

Feb. 10 vs. Detroit: After paying tribute to Johnny "Red" Kerr at halftime, the Bulls trailed by 15 with 7:30 remaining and still were down 10 with 3:31 left before finishing the game with a 17-2 run. Gordon's corner 3-pointer and 4-point play sent the Bulls ahead with 16.7 seconds on the clock.

Feb. 28 vs. Houston: This was one of the most improbable comebacks in team history. Thanks to a scoring barrage from Houston's Ron Artest, the Bulls were down 17 points with 5:51 remaining.

Gordon and Rose led the home team on a game-ending 23-3 run to pull off a 105-102 victory on a night the Bulls honored the memories of Kerr and Norm Van Lier.
