Praise for people, postal service

I dropped a feral female cat off at the vet to be spayed and vaccinated, and picked her up on my way to work the next day. I was in a hurry and evidently dropped the rabies vaccination form somewhere along the way. Didn't even notice it.

Early the next week someone from the EPA office came over and asked me if my last name began with a 'J.' They had some mail for me. She produced an envelope sealed in a postal plastic bag with my name and work address. Stamped on the envelope was the notation "Contents Found Loose in Mail at Palatine P and DC."

Some kind person had found my cat's rabies receipt and dropped it loose in a mailbox. And some other kind person at the Palatine sorting facility had found it, pulled it out, addressed it to me at work, and put it in the mail stream, so I received it two days later.

Thank you to both of those kind people. I remain convinced that every 42 cent stamp gets you way more than your money's worth.
