Illinois man indicted on alleged Wis. kickback scheme

MILWAUKEE -- An Illinois man has been indicted in connection with an alleged kickback scam targeting Racine-based S.C. Johnson & Son Inc.

The U.S. Attorney's office in Milwaukee announced the indictment of 50-year-old Thomas H. Buske on Wednesday.

The Edwardsville, Ill., man was indicted Tuesday on 23 counts including mail fraud and money laundering.

Federal prosecutors say Buske was part of a scheme that resulted in S.C. Johnson paying millions of dollars in inflated trucking rates.

Six others have been charged in the incident.

Last year a jury awarded S.C. Johnson $147 million in damages after the company sued Buske and 11 others for restitution.

His attorneys did not immediately return messages on Wednesday.
