U-46's Torres to hold open sessions

Elgin Area School District U-46 Superintendent Jose Torres will hold his final "brown bag lunch" to meet with community members from noon to 1 p.m. April 16 at district headquarters, 355 E. Chicago St., Elgin. Evening sessions will take place at 6 p.m. March 12 and May 7 at the Elgin High School library, preceding the monthly Citizens' Advisory Council meeting.

Meet District 300 board members

Residents can meet Community Unit District 300 school board members at upcoming business expos: the Northern Kane Home and Business Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at Liberty Elementary School; and the Hampshire Home and Business Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15.

McHenry County history buffs sought

The McHenry County Board is accepting applications from anyone interested in serving on the county's Historic Preservation Commission. The commission works to preserve the county's culture, history and landmarks by, among other things, designating and protecting historically significant sites. Application forms are available by calling (815) 334-4221 or online at www.co.mchenry.il.us. Attorneys, architects, engineers and real estate professionals especially are encouraged to apply by the March 12 deadline.
