Mike Powers will not be forgotten

With a heavy heart it must be noted how dearly Mike Powers will be missed. Mike embodied so many wonderful traits of the human spirit and, fortunately for those who knew him, he expressed them with great conviction. He was an energetic, passionate individual as anyone would quickly attest.

His untimely death leaves many questions unanswered. However, so much we already know. Mike loved sports, music, Elgin and - most importantly - his family. It pains me the realization that another of our lively conversations highlighting these topics is sadly no more. I hope is that whatever troubles Mike could not overcome, the good Lord has put to rest. They say our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them. Mike will not be forgotten.
