Cameras drive shoppers out of town

There is a red light camera in Elk Grove Village at Rohlwing and Biesterfield roads. The terrific series carried by the Daily Herald confirmed the intersection has hidden visibility requiring drivers to pull forward in order to check for any traffic and safely make a right turn on red.

I would like Mayor Craig Johnson to know that when he decided to install that red light camera, I decided to stop frequenting the businesses in Elk Grove and am now giving my sales dollars to neighboring communities such as Itasca, Wood Dale and even Schaumburg.

I now encounter my neighbors in other communities. Could it be that the number of tickets being issued has dropped because drivers are avoiding that intersection and are no longer spending their money within Elk Grove Village - a loss of sales tax dollars to the community?
