Obama tax plan will invite class warfare

The Obama tax proposal indicates that he will raise federal income taxes on Americans earning somewhere around $150,000 or more per year.

The ceiling of the amount has been coming down for the past several weeks, but for the sake of argument, let's use that number.

Now each American who qualifies will get a check once a year for between $500 and $1,000.

In order to qualify, you just have to make less per year than the arbitrary dollar income he has selected.

You don't even have to pay any federal income tax; all you have to do is be breathing and make less than a number someone pulled out of the air. Sound fair? Sound like its in the best interest of all Americans?

Now what will $500 to 1,000 alone do for the recipients? Can they afford college or vocational school tuition with that amount? Hardly. Will it afford anyone a down payment on a house or condo? Hardly.

Five hundred dollars is $41.66 per month and $1,000 is $83.33 per month.

It might allow someone to put one more tank of gas in their car or go out to eat once a month as a courtesy of Americans who actually worked for that money.

Is a tank of gas or a meal out worth the animosity that will exist between Americans? Do we really want class warfare to begin between neighbors?

To the best of my knowledge, nations around the world have been trying to get away from class warfare and wanted to move toward our economic model.

Why would we want to go in reverse?
