Big Ten/ACC Challenge lineup

The ninth annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge began Monday with Iowa hosting Wake Forest. Here's a look at the other men's basketball matchups as the Big Ten tries to end the ACC's dominance.

Tuesday's games

Georgia Tech (3-2) at Indiana (4-1), 6 p.m., ESPN

The skinny: The eighth-ranked Hoosiers have lost four consecutive Challenge matchups. Indiana faces Georgia Tech for the first time since 1969. Freshman guard Eric Gordon ranks fourth nationally in scoring (27 ppg).

Northwestern (1-3) at Virginia (5-1), 6 p.m., ESPNU

The skinny: Northwestern has lost four road Challenge matchups by an average of 17.8 points. Two years ago, the Wildcats fell 72-57 at Virginia, coached by former DePaul boss Dave Leitao.

Minnesota (3-0) at Florida State (5-2), 6:30 p.m., ESPN2

The skinny: The undefeated Gophers have dropped four consecutive Challenge matchups. First-year coach Tubby Smith is 18-11 against ACC teams but has never faced Florida State.

Wisconsin (5-0) at Duke (6-0), 8 p.m., ESPN

The skinny: Arguably the event's premier matchup pairs two of the nine Division I teams that have reached the NCAA Tournament in each of the last nine seasons. Duke is the only team never to have lost a Challenge game (8-0). The programs have never met.

Purdue (3-0) at Clemson (5-0), 8:30 p.m., ESPN2

The skinny: Clemson, which opened last season at 17-0, has claimed its victories this year by an average of 21.2 points a game. Purdue is 0-3 in Challenge road games.

Wednesday's games

N.C. State (4-1) at Michigan State (4-1), 6 p.m., ESPN

The skinny: Expect a close game here. Michigan State's last three games (2 wins, 1 loss) all have been decided by 5 points or fewer. N.C. State comes off a 1-point win against Villanova and a 2-point win against South Carolina.

Boston College (4-0) at Michigan (3-3), 6 p.m., ESPNU

The skinny: Standout freshman Manny Harris (16.8 ppg) and the Wolverines play two of their next three games against ACC opponents (they visit Duke on Dec. 8). Boston College plays its first road game of the season.

Illinois (4-1) at Maryland (4-2), 6:30 p.m., ESPN2

The skinny: Illini aim for revenge in a Challenge rematch after falling 72-66 to Terps last year at Assembly Hall. Maryland is 4-0 at home but has yet to beat a quality opponent.

North Carolina (5-0) at Ohio State (4-1), 8 p.m., ESPN

The skinny: The Tar Heels won last year's blockbuster meeting 98-89, but Ohio State reached the national title game. Ohio State coach Thad Matta is 3-0 against top-ranked opponents. North Carolina begins a four-game road trip.

Penn State (2-3) at Virginia Tech (2-2), 8:30 p.m., ESPN2

The skinny: The teams meet for the first time since 1979 as Penn State aims for its first win against Virginia Tech in five tries. The Nittany Lions went winless in three games at the Old Spice Classic.
