Incumbent Collins keeps Kane board seat
Democratic incumbent Donnell Collins, 52, of Aurora held off Republican challenger Doug Sullivan, 32, of Batavia by an unofficial vote count of 1,970 to 1,594 in Kane County Board's District 2 Tuesday.
Army veteran and freelance photographer Collins had a strong showing in the Aurora precinct. He was appointed to the board last year to replace Linda Holmes when she became a state senator.
Sullivan works in marketing for Pace Suburban bus agency and ran as a strong proponent of improving mass transit.
The Kane County district includes portions of Aurora, a city which preferred Democrat Sandy Kaczmarski in the Kane County Chairman race on a night that saw Republican incumbent Karen McConnaughay easily retain her seat.
