Atkins homers, Rockies win 10-6 over Cubs

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Garrett Atkins homered in his first game in more than two weeks, leading the Colorado Rockies to a 10-6 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.

Atkins, who hadn't played since March 10 because of a strained right hip flexor, connected against Ryan Dempster in the first inning. He initially was injured while fielding a grounder on March 2, and after several days off, aggravated his hip and then his right groin after playing again.

Chris Iannetta hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning.

Dempster allowed eight hits and four runs in six innings. He walked three and struck out four.

Colorado starter Ubaldo Jimenez walked six and hit a batter in four innings. He allowed five runs and six hits.
