Crash that killed Gurnee mom, son still under investigation

A Wisconsin car accident that left two Gurnee residents dead remains under investigation, police said Monday.

Charges are expected against the driver who crashed into a disabled car on I-94 near Paris, Wis., last week, killing Clara Jennings, 60, and her son Patrick, 23, Kenosha County sheriff's police said. However, the investigation may not be complete for a few more days.

Police also are awaiting the results of toxicology tests.

Clara and Patrick Jennings were killed Thursday night while changing a flat tire on Clara's car, which was on the shoulder of the southbound side of the highway, police said.

Two people in the car that hit the Jenningses were hurt. They were identified as driver Cara Michalski, 38, of West Allis, Wis., and passenger Willie Pritchard, 36, of Milwaukee.

Both were treated at Wisconsin hospitals and released, police said.

Visitation for Clara and Patrick Jennings is set to begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave., Libertyville. Services will follow at 7 p.m.
