Pearl Jam headlining Bonnaroo
Pearl Jam will headline the seventh installment of the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, June 12 to 15 in Manchester, Tenn., it was announced Tuesday. Tickets for the four-day camping, comedy, art and music festival go on sale Feb. 16.
Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant also will play this year's Bonnaroo with neo-bluegrass fiddler (and Champaign native) Alison Krauss, a collaboration stemming from Raising Sand, their recent hit album.
Among the 100 bands scheduled to play over 13 stages are Metallica, My Morning Jacket, Willie Nelson, Death Cab for Cutie, Levon Helm, Battles, Ben Folds, the Allman Brothers Band, the Raconteurs, former Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh, B.B. King, Sigur Ros, M.I.A., and many others.
Representing Chicago are rap titans Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco as well as Oak Park indie rock duo the Fiery Furnaces and jam band Umphrey's McGee.
Apart from the music, Bonnaroo also offers a weekend's worth of activities including an arcade, restaurants, yoga classes, film screenings, a comedy tent and more. Tickets sales begin at 11 a.m. exclusively through bonnaroo.com.
