Lake County briefs

Kids again welcome:

After a temporary break, the Lake County Health Department's women's residential services program again is accepting children while their mothers receive addiction treatment at the facility. The Vernon Hills facility aims to give women treatment and parenting training in a residential program that allows their children to live with them. Last summer, however, the child care program was eliminated because of a state funding cut, Lake County health officials said. In preparation, the children's rooms have been repainted and money has been raised to buy new playground equipment, officials said.
