Prairie Path bridge closing:
The Illinois Prairie Path bridge over the east branch of the DuPage River near the Glen Ellyn and Lombard border will be closed for reconstruction starting Tuesday, DuPage County officials said. Workers will begin building a wider and longer pedestrian bridge that is scheduled for completion in early June. A detour will be posted along the nearby streets of Vance Street and Hill Avenue. The project cost is nearly $390,000 and is being done to meet trail standards for length and accessibility. The new bridge will be eight feet wider and 40 feet longer.
