SixtyFour Wine Bar & Kitchen, Reserve Room in Naperville to close

SixtyFour Wine Bar & Kitchen and SixtyFour Reserve Room in downtown Naperville will close its doors near the end of the month.

“After 10 years it is time to move on with other opportunities,” the business wrote in a statement. “We thank everyone who helped us over the last 10 years; guests, business partners, suppliers, employees and more!”

SixtyFour’s last day will be Nov. 25.

Reached briefly by phone Wednesday, owner Loren Beadle said the business’ lease was expiring and reiterated that it was “time to move on.”

“We loved being (in Naperville). We loved our guests, our employees, our business partners, our suppliers,” he said. “So it had nothing to do with them. It was just time to move on.”

Beadle did not elaborate, but when asked whether he planned on opening any new businesses in the future, he said it was a possibility. However, he noted it was unlikely that any new ventures would be in the Naperville area.

SixtyFour had been a fixture on of Water Street in downtown Naperville for the past decade. The business took its name from its rotating selection of 64 wines. It also featured craft beers, cocktails, charcuterie, small plates, desserts and retail wines to go.

Guests could serve themselves wine through automated drink dispensers called “wine stations.” With the use of a smart card, patrons could pour their own drink, allowing them to have “64 bottles of wine at their fingertips — and into a Riedel glass — in seconds.”

When Amy and Loren Beadle started SixtyFour, it was not their first wine bar business venture. Prior to opening SixtyFour, the pair opened FortyEight Wine Bar & Kitchen on Kiawah Island in South Carolina.

FortyEight features a similar concept with the wine stations, but with 48 wines from which guests could choose. In South Carolina, the Beadles also own and operate five other businesses, including Kiawah Spirits, Kiawah Wines and SeaCoast Sports and Outfitters.

From now until Nov. 25, all wines at SixtyFour will be 25% off. From Nov. 30 to Dec. 11, SixtyFour we will be open on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for retail shopping. All retail wines will be 30% off and all other items will be part of the business’ clearance sale.
