New dispatch team for some 911 calls in Des Plaines

All 911 calls made in Des Plaines now are being handled by one dispatch center, rather than two, officials announced.

The Cook County sheriff’s police 911 center started fielding the city’s emergency fire and medical calls last week. It already had been handling police calls.

Previously, emergency fire and medical calls were routed to the Regional Emergency Dispatch Center.

Callers don’t need to do anything differently.
