Cook County prosecutors indict DeKalb man for Arlington Heights attempted murder
Cook County prosecutors on Friday announced the indictment of DeKalb man who authorities say stabbed and tried to run over an acquaintance earlier this month in Arlington Heights.
Kendall Chesley, 25, is charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery. He remains in custody at Cook County jail.
His arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 17 in Rolling Meadows courtroom 109.
According to Arlington Heights police, Chesley called 911 about 1:50 p.m. Oct. 10 claiming to have stabbed someone on the 300 block of North Salem Avenue.
Police officers arrived and aided a man who had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and hand. The man's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
The investigation revealed the men were acquaintances who had a fight. Chesley tried to strike the other man with his Honda Civic, which collided with a building, police said. Chesley subsequently fled on foot.
Officers arrested him about an hour later.
If convicted of the most serious charge, Chesley could receive a sentence between six and 30 years.
