Kentucky folk singer Michael Johnathon coming to Two Way Street Coffee House

Two Way Street Coffee House, 1047 Curtis St. in Downers Grove, presents Kentucky-based folk singer and songwriter Michael Johnathon on Friday, Nov. 6. The show starts at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Suggested donation is $10.

Johnathon is an American folk singer-songwriter, producer, author, and playwright. He has released 20 albums, published five books, a play, composed an opera, performed with symphony orchestras, completed a motion picture script, created three volunteer organizations, and tours nationwide.

His concerts are full of songs celebrating the spirit of America’s front porch, funny and often moving stories, as he performs with his Martin guitar and long neck Vega banjo.

Johnathon created and hosts the international live audience broadcast of the WoodSongs Old Time Radio Hour heard on over 500 radio stations and PBS TV nationwide, the RFD Network coast to coast and American Forces Radio in 177 nations and every military base in the world.

He is the recipient of the prestigious Milner Award, the highest award given to any artist in the Kentucky Commonwealth by Gov. Andy Beshear.

He organized the collection of over 5,000 good instruments that were gifted to musicians who lost everything in the tornadoes of western Kentucky, the floods of Appalachia and the storms of Helene in North Carolina.

The concert is also hosted virtually on twowaystreet.org and on their Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Two Way Street Coffee House, a folk and acoustic music venue, has been presenting weekly concerts and community events for over five decades.
